A Short Hotel Break can Refresh the Soul

Do you ever feel stressed at work and wish you could get away, even for just a short break? many of us do from time to time, and this is often due to a gradual build up of accumulated stress over weeks or months, maybe as a result of extra responsibility, or working extra hard or for long hours. There comes a time when we all need a break, and why shouldn't we take one? A weekend, or preferably a three-day weekend break is the perfect antidote to stress - much better than taking pills for sure, and needn't cost a fortune if you shop around.

Hotel breaks are available in many different areas at reasonable prices, especially out of the high holiday season, and these days it is easy to research them online.

For the person looking for a stress-free weekend it is best to choose a hotel that is within comfortable travelling distance, perhaps in a place you have always wanted to visit, or one that has the features you need, whether it be set in the heart of the country, or an up-to-the-minute luxury hotel to enable you to wallow in luxury.

Your choice may of course, be influenced to a large extent by your budget, but some people prefer the ambience of the small, intimate, tucked-away hotel which is quiet and peaceful, while others would rather let their hair down in a larger hotel with plenty of night-life and the luxuries of a swimming pool and spa.

The choice though, is wide, wherever you go in most European countries, although you should be aware that star ratings are not necessarily standardised across all countries of the world by any means, so should only be regarded as an indication of minimum standards of comfort, cleanliness, and facilities. You might well find, for example, that a four star hotel in Morocco would only rate two stars under the UK rating system.

Any hotel though, in this day and age, is expected to offer clean accomodation and a degree of service, but the higher the star rating the bigger the room and the more facilities you would be likely to get. Certain amenities such as a telephone in the room or ensuite bathroom may be lacking in a one, or two star hotel, but priorities in these matters can vary from country to country. In France for example, you can find two star hotels offering excellent food and adequate accomodation, even though the wallpaper may not be to your taste!

You should remember that it is the experience of getting away from your normal routine and being able to please yourself for a few days that is the really important part of a hotel break. Some say that a few short breaks can do you more good than one long holiday. Who knows, but it certainly breaks up the year!
