About 300 people have taken part in a demonstration against plans for an incinerator in Devon.
Waste firm Viridor wants to build the incinerator at a former quarry it owns near the village of Lee Mill.
Objectors, who marched in nearby Ivybridge, claim the incinerator would adversely affect the environment and want more waste to be recycled.
Viridor said the “resource recovery centre” was safe and would produce electricity for 45,000 homes.
Viridor is one of three firms which have been asked to come up with solutions for the disposal of waste in south Devon.
Other proposed sites are at Ernesettle and Devonport in Plymouth.
The South West Devon Waste Partnership will make a decision about the preferred bidders in the spring.
